Welcome to PGR: Under the Hood, where we take a break to analyze some of the more interesting stats that our favorite game has generated. Keep in mind that stats do change, so some of this information might be out of date in the near future.
This! Is! Singapore! (Plus six other guys.)
Right now, the United Kingdom has racked up the most racers under any flag with 28,866 players signing on to the Union Jack. At the back of the pack is Singapore, which counts only 306 people in its ranks. Paltry, maybe, but you can’t knock this country’s passion for cleanliness. Out of the 1,021 races recorded by Singapore drivers, only 86 have been “dirty.”
Speaking of Clean
Singapore isn’t the only “clean” country. At press time, Denmark had only 65 dirty races, while New Zealand was looking good at 69. Of course, members of those three nations have yet to enter more than 1,200 races, so that clean streak might not last as time goes on and more paint gets traded. Still, it’s pretty impressive, and we’ll be keeping an eye on who is playing clean and who’s not above getting their hands dirty.
Winner’s Circle
Out of all the countries, only two (Germany and the UK) have results showing a 2:1 ratio of wins to losses. Also, Germany and the UK are two of only six nations with win percentages above 25 percent.
More Stars for Less
Right now, 11 nations have accumulated more than one million stars. The United States leads the pack with more than 3.5 million stars, followed by the UK (2.6 million) and Germany (2.1 million). Everyone else settles in at between one and two million.
Impressive? Maybe not so much for the United States or the UK. With a US racing population of 24,038, you get a breakdown of 147 stars per racer. The UK, with 28,866 drivers, has it worst of the 11 nations with a skimpy 92:1 stars-to-racers ratio. Surprisingly, the Rest of the World team has gathered drivers who seem to make every turn count, delivering a whopping 518:1 ratio (about 1.04 million stars gathered by 2,012 racers). The Netherlands isn’t slouching around either; its 2,263 racers have brought home more than 1.085 million stars for a 480:1 ratio.
Fast Being A Relative Term
We’re impressed (and a little baffled) by the speed record of 394 mph achieved by Canadian racer Mr. Baconater. In honor of this milestone, we looked around for the countries that can’t seem to find the accelerator. Our current records show that Singapore has posted the slowest top speed of all the countries at 262 mph. Switzerland barely escapes infamy with a speed of 265. Our PGRologists have been working late into the night to determine if bacon does indeed lead to higher speeds. We shall keep you posted.
That’s it until the next edition of PGR: Under the Hood. As always, we invite you to chat in the forums. See you on the track.
